Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Friday said his party seeks not merely electoral success, but a victory for the country’s 18 crore people through meaningful political change.
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally at Narail Government High School ground in the afternoon, Shafiqur Rahman said Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build a safe, inclusive and dignified Bangladesh.
He criticised what he described as the commercialisation of politics, saying those who treat politics as a business cannot build the nation.
“We do not want to return to old politics. We want change, a change that can transform Bangladesh. With honesty and goodwill in leadership, society can be changed in a short time,” he said.
The Jamaat ameer added that the party aims to restore people’s confidence in politics and build a country where citizens can live with pride and security.
The rally was chaired by Narail district Jamaat Ameer and Jamaat-nominated candidate for the Narail-2 constituency, Ataur Rahman Bachchu.
Jamaat’s Jashore-Kushtia region team member and former Narail district ameer Asheq Elahi addressed the gathering as a special guest.
The programme was conducted by district Jamaat secretary and Narail-1 candidate Md Obaidullah Qaiser.
Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Zakir Hossain, Jamaat leader Md Shamsur Rahman, Khelafat Majlis leader Abdur Rahman, Abdul Quddus, Mohsin Hossain, Abdul Hannan Sardar, Patit Paban Bishwas, NCP leader Mahmudah Sultana Rimi, and Islami Chhatra Shibir district president Mohammad Salauddin, addressed the programme, among others.
