The nomination papers of all six candidates contesting the Thakurgaon-1 constituency by-election have been declared valid after scrutiny.
Md Quamrul Islam, district election officer and returning officer, confirmed the development.
The decision was announced on Tuesday at the District Election Office after officials verified the information submitted in the nomination papers and found them to be accurate.
The candidates cleared to contest the election are Mirza Faysal Amin and Obaidullah Masud of the BNP, Delawar Hossain of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Md Khademul Islam of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Md Abdul Alim Nizami of Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan and Hossain Mohammad Omar Faruk of Bangladesh Congress.
After completing the scrutiny process, Quamrul Islam said the Election Commission was taking all necessary steps to ensure a fair, acceptable and peaceful election.
He sought cooperation from all political parties and candidates participating in the by-election.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, candidates can file appeals against the scrutiny decisions from 30 September to 4 October.
The appeals will be disposed of on 6 October.
The deadline for withdrawing candidature is 7 October, while election symbols will be allocated to final candidates on 8 October. Voting will be held on 29 October.
The Thakurgaon-1 constituency includes Thakurgaon Sadar and the newly formed Ruhia and Bhulli upazilas. The constituency has 5,16,138 registered voters.
Polling will be held at 185 centres with 989 booths.
