The United States Ambassador to Dhaka, Brent Christensen, has paid tribute to the language martyrs on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
In a video message shared on the official Facebook page of the ‘US Embassy, Dhaka’ on Saturday, Christensen ambassador delivered his greetings in the Bengali language.
“Greetings to everyone on the glorious Ekushey. I pay deep respect to the language martyrs. Language is the identity of our culture,” Ambassador Christensen stated.
He further remarked that 21 February teaches the importance of speaking one’s own language and remembering one’s own history. On behalf of the United States, the ambassador expressed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh on Mother Language Day.
