The School of Business at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised an experiential learning field trip for its BBA students to the 3A Chocolate and Candy Factory in Savar.
A selected group of 30 students from the Introduction to Business and Microeconomics courses taught by Arzoo Ismail, senior lecturer at ULAB School of Business (USB), took part in the educational visit, reads a press release.
The trip was designed to bridge foundational academic theories with real-world manufacturing environments.
Factory owner AKM Alamgir Khan (Jamil), who began operations in 2023 with a strategy focused on gradual, high-quality production of Bangladeshi dark and milk chocolate, hosted the students.
During the two-hour industrial tour, the students observed production operations, automated assembly systems, supply chain logistics, and live manufacturing processes and cost structures.
Jamil guided the students throughout the visit, helping them relate textbook concepts such as economies of scale, operational efficiency, resource allocation and marketing strategies to activities on the factory floor.
Experiential learning remains a core pillar of ULAB’s business curriculum, turning classroom learning into practical industry insights.
By examining the operations of a commercial confectionery facility, the students gained a practical understanding of how macroeconomic principles influence daily corporate output, operational workflows and overall market competitiveness.
