The United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T Christensen, has visited the floating guava market at Bhimruli in Jhalakathi.
The ambassador arrived at the market around 9am on Sunday, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Kawsar Hossain welcomed him with flowers.
Christensen then visited the traditional market by riding a small boat and tasted locally grown guavas. Sitting in the boat, he observed the buying and selling activities and enjoyed the lush green surroundings.

After spending some time at Bhimruli’s floating market, the US envoy departed by trawler for Atghar Kuriana in Pirojpur, accompanied by officials from the US Embassy and members of the local administration.
Speaking to journalists after the trip, Christensen said he greatly enjoyed visiting Bhimruli’s floating guava market. He added that the scenic, greenery‑filled environment had deeply impressed him.
