Malaysia has closed schools in parts of the country, including the capital Kuala Lumpur, on Friday as haze from fires in Indonesia pushed air quality to unhealthy levels, the Education Ministry announced.
In an official statement, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said she had instructed regional education authorities to closely monitor the situation, reports AFP.
“I have instructed all state education departments and district education offices to continue monitoring the haze situation and to take immediate action should conditions require it,” Sidek said.
