University of Asia Pacific (UAP) recognised six faculty members for contributions to research and publications at the UAP Research Excellence Award 2026, held at the UAP Auditorium on Tuesday as part of the university’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
The Institute for Research, Innovation and Development (IRID) of UAP organised the event on 8 September to recognise research, innovation, knowledge creation, publications and academic excellence, UAP said in a press release. Tanveer Ferdous Saeed of the Department of Civil Engineering secured first place, receiving a Gold Medal, Crest and Certificate.
Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan and Mohammad Shahriar, both from the Department of Pharmacy, received the Silver Medal, Crest and Certificate and the Bronze Medal, Crest and Certificate, respectively.
Three other rising researchers were also recognised with Crests and Certificates for their research achievements.
Mamun Ahmed, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), attended as chief guest. K M Mozibul Hoque, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of UAP, was special guest, while Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Acting Vice Chancellor of UAP, chaired the programme.
Md Mehedi Hasan Khan, Member of UGC, and Md Aslam Hossain, Member of UGC, attended as guests of honour.
Mohiuddin encouraged faculty members to make greater use of UAP’s research facilities, resources and budgetary support, saying stronger research was essential for academic excellence and institutional reputation.
Mozibul Hoque said the BOT, together with UAP’s teachers, officers and employees, had worked with dedication and responsibility over the past 30 years to advance the university in education, research and knowledge creation.
Mamun said public and private universities shared the same fundamental mission of ensuring quality education and advancing knowledge. He said research should go beyond publication and focus on knowledge creation, innovation and solutions to societal challenges.
The programme also featured the launch of the UAP Research Policy Booklet and leaflet, a showcase of departmental research activities and a promotional video on UAP-IRID.
Members of the Board of Trustees, vice chancellors of different universities, faculty members, officials, researchers, students and other members of the UAP community attended the event.
UAP said the initiative reflected its emphasis on research quality, Q1 and Q2 publications, innovation and impactful research, while seeking greater research engagement to strengthen its national and international academic standing.
