A total of 4,585 students who initially failed have passed the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations after re-scrutiny, while 3,079 candidates secured GPA-5 for the first time following re-evaluation of their answer scripts.
The revised results were published at 10am on Thursday on the official websites of all 11 education boards. Candidates were also informed through SMS on their registered mobile numbers and could access their results through the official rescrutiny portal.
A total of 402,051 candidates from the 11 education boards applied for re-scrutiny after the publication of the main results on 10 August.
The application deadline ended on 17 August.
New evaluation process
This year’s re-scrutiny process introduced a major change, as answer scripts were not only checked for errors in mark calculation and recording but also re-evaluated.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board said earlier that under the previous system, re-scrutiny only focused on checking whether marks were correctly calculated and recorded.
This year, however, submitted answer scripts underwent a complete re-evaluation, he said.
Dhaka board gets highest applications
Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of re-scrutiny applications, with 94,236 candidates seeking reviews.
Among the general education boards, Rajshahi and Chittagong received more than 39,000 applications each, followed by Dinajpur with over 37,000, Cumilla with more than 35,000, Jashore with over 28,000, Mymensingh with 27,676, Sylhet with over 20,000 and Barishal with more than 17,000 applications.
More than 40,000 candidates applied for re-scrutiny under the Madrasah Education Board, while over 20,000 students sought reviews under the Technical Education Board.
The average pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations was 62.25 per cent, the lowest in 19 years. A record number of students applied for re-scrutiny after the publication of the initial results.
