Darus Salam Police have arrested top terrorist Mosharraf Hossain Musha, the prime accused in the murder of Apu Rari, from the Baridhara area of Dhaka early on Friday after he had been absconding for a long time.
Apu was beaten to death in Hemayetpur, Savar.
Mostafa Hossain, sub-inspector of Darus Salam Police Station and investigating officer of the murder case, confirmed the arrest and said that the accused, who faces multiple cases, has been sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj through the court.
The sub-inspector added that police will bring Musha into custody for interrogation on remand with court permission for the sake of the investigation.
Earlier in 2025, the Detective Branch had arrested Musha over an incident in which he shot Hemayetpur businessman Romjan while demanding extortion. In addition, he faces multiple student-people murder cases lodged at various police stations across Savar and Dhaka.
Musha was once the president of Awami League-backed Transport Workers Federation, Savar branch. Following the political transition on 5 August, he developed ties with leaders of BNP and subsequently secured the position of president of Ward 7 BNP in Tetuljhora Union, Savar.
He remained a subject of widespread discussion due to numerous allegations in the Hemayetpur area, including armed displays, land grabbing, extortion through gunfire, physical attacks, and intimidation.
Moreover, the Musha gang has been accused of asserting influence and maintaining control over various structures and business centres, including garment factories, the jhut bus stand, footpaths, Zainabari Road, and areas adjacent to the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Hemayetpur.
