United International University (UIU) brought senior human resources and corporate executives together with final-year BBA students at its campus in Dhaka on Tuesday, offering students direct insights into recruitment, career development and the skills employers expect from business graduates.
The BBA Program Office of UIU’s School of Business and Economics (SoBE) organised the career-focused programme, titled “Meet and Question the HR Leaders”, featuring executives from multinational companies, banking, diversified businesses, recruitment, financial services, real estate and media, UIU said in a press release.
Md Musharrof Hossain, HR Advisor at icddr,b and Founder President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO), delivered the keynote speech, focusing on future-ready HR leadership and skills sought by employers.
The panel discussion featured M Shabbir Ali, SHRM-SCP, Corporate Head of HR & Director at Transcom Ltd; Asif Zaman, Chief Human Resources Officer at Citibank NA; Md Kamruzzaman (Sabuj), Chief Executive Officer of Myjobs.com.bd; Abu Shaleh Mohammed Shameem, Chief People and Culture Officer at National Finance PLC; Shabah Kabir Nabi, Senior Manager of Human Resources and Administration at Sheltech (Pvt) Ltd; and Md Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Head of HR & Admin at The Daily Star.
The panellists discussed career development, recruitment strategies, professional ethics, leadership, workplace adaptability, communication, organisational culture and competencies required in today’s corporate environment.
Prof M Niaz Asadullah, Advisor-Adjunct at SoBE, UIU, chaired the session and discussed opportunities in the current job market and considerations for students preparing to enter professional life.
Prof Dr Salma Karim, Director of the BBA Program at SoBE, UIU, moderated the session and facilitated interaction between the guests and students.
The programme concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing students to seek advice directly from corporate leaders on career preparation, professional growth and workplace expectations.
Heads of departments, faculty members, HR experts, administrative personnel, students and senior corporate representatives also attended.
