A five-day entrepreneurship development training programme has begun at Rabindra University (RU), Bangladesh, to equip university students with skills to create jobs rather than only seek employment.
The programme, a joint initiative of BSCIC Training Institute (BTI), the training arm of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Rabindra University, Bangladesh, began on 12 September 2026 and will continue until 16 September 2026.
The training aims to encourage an entrepreneurial culture among students, promote innovative business initiatives and create opportunities for self-employment and sustainable entrepreneurship.
The programme covers business plan preparation, small and medium enterprise management, marketing strategies, financial management, leadership development and other areas related to entrepreneurship.
Rabindra University, Bangladesh Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdus Sobahan attended the inaugural ceremony as chief guest, while Rabindra University Treasurer Professor Dr Md Jahangir Hossain was present as special guest. BSCIC Training Institute Principal and BSCIC General Manager (Planning & Research) Dr Md Forhad Ahmmed chaired the event.
The speakers said entrepreneurship development has become increasingly important for sustainable economic growth, employment generation, innovation and self-reliance in the global economy.
They stressed the need to develop entrepreneurial mindsets, innovative thinking and practical business skills among university students, while highlighting BSCIC’s role in promoting entrepreneurship through training, development and support initiatives.
Also present at the event were Rabindra University Sociology Department Chairman and Assistant Professor Jannatul Mawa Moon; Bangla Department Chairman and Assistant Professor Md Jabead Iqbal; Management Department Acting Chairman and Assistant Professor Proshanta Kumar Podder; Management Department Assistant Professor (CSE) Md Tarequl Islam; Music Department Lecturer Babul Hossain; and Economics Department Lecturer Ekramul Hasan.
BSCIC Training Institute Associate Faculty Member Md Tanjim Hossain is serving as course director, while Assistant Faculty Members Miftahul Jannat Ripa and Md Jubair Islam are serving as course coordinators.
