Joao Pedro has been named the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August 2026 after a flying start to his Chelsea career.

The Brazilian forward scored twice and supplied two assists across Chelsea’s opening two league matches. His contributions helped the Blues beat Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Joao Pedro opened his account just 33 seconds into Chelsea’s 2026/27 campaign at Fulham. He then created Cole Palmer’s winning goal as Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory.

He struck again in Chelsea’s first home match against Brighton. The forward followed his goal by setting up Palmer for the decisive finish.

Those performances earned Joao Pedro the award after he finished ahead of Palmer and six other shortlisted players in the public vote.

It marks the first Premier League Player of the Month award of his career. He also becomes the first Chelsea player to win the prize since Palmer claimed his second award in September 2024.

The honour adds another early highlight to Joao Pedro’s first full campaign with Chelsea. His link-up with Palmer has also given Xabi Alonso’s side an attacking partnership that has quickly produced results.

Palmer had also made the shortlist for August, but his Chelsea team-mate took the award after the public vote.

The first monthly awards of the new season also recognised players across the EFL.

Southampton’s Cyle Larin won the Championship Player of the Month award, while Sheffield Wednesday’s Jamal Lowe collected the League One prize. York’s Harry Boyes took the League Two award.

The EFL manager awards went to Swansea’s Vítor Matos in the Championship, Huddersfield’s Martin Drury in League One and Barnet’s Dean Brennan in League Two.
