Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the residence of little Ramisa, who was brutally murdered in the capital’s Pallabi area, to offer his condolences to the bereaved family on Thursday night.

During the visit, Tarique spoke with the grieving family members and assured them that a swift trial would be ensured to deliver justice for the killing. According to sources, he also announced that he would take full responsibility for the future of Ramisa’s elder sister.

Tarique was accompanied by Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Milton, and Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Ruman.

The murder came to light last Tuesday morning when police recovered Ramisa’s body from a house in Pallabi.

Investigative findings suggest that Swapna Akter, the wife of suspect Sohel Rana, lured Ramisa into their room after she had left her home that morning, where Sohel allegedly raped and murdered her.

Police discovered the child’s decapitated body hidden under a bed, while her severed head was found inside a bucket in the bathroom.

Following the incident, local residents detained the suspect’s wife, Swapna Akter, but Sohel Rana managed to escape by cutting through a window grill. He was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement later that evening in the Fatullah area of Narayanganj.
