A contractual dispute has erupted between Tanjin Tisha and the Kolkata-based team behind the film ‘Bhalobasar Morshum’, with both sides presenting starkly different accounts of what went wrong.

The project’s producer, Sharif Khan, has alleged that Tisha accepted an advance payment but later failed to cooperate with the production, ultimately causing her removal from the cast. He further claims that she has not returned the money issued to her before filming.

Tisha, however, has dismissed the allegations outright, calling them ‘nonsense’ in a media interview. She insisted she had honoured the terms of her agreement and said she had already lost valuable work opportunities while waiting for the production to secure the necessary documents.

“I received one-third of the payment at the time of signing,” she said. “I did not take on any work for one and a half months because I was waiting for the visa for this project. The contract clearly states that if shooting is cancelled, this amount is not refundable.” The actress also accused Sharif Khan of unprofessional conduct.

“Someone claiming to be the producer wanted to call me at midnight. Why would I discuss work at such an hour? That is not professional behaviour. I communicated during the day, but he is not even the producer of this film. If there is anything more to be said, my lawyer will address it.” Her lawyer, Jasim Uddin, later issued a statement defending the actress.

According to him, Tisha met all her contractual obligations by providing dates and remaining ready for the shoot. “The director failed to ensure visa arrangements and the required preparations. Under the contract, this constitutes a director’s default. There is no artist default on Tisha’s part. In fact, she has been directly affected by the visa delays and disruption to the schedule.”

The producer, meanwhile, maintains his original accusation. He claims that an initial sum of 30,000 rupees was transferred to Tisha’s sister’s account, followed by a further Tk4.12 lakh, after which communication allegedly became difficult.
