Ministry of Religious Affairs will donate 13,000 religious books to the Department of Prison.
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made the statement on Sunday afternoon during a courtesy meeting with Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain at his office in the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said religious education can help to improve moral values and guides people towards correction and the right path.
He also said the Ministry of Religious Affairs will appoint one religious teacher in each prison, in addition to providing the books.
During the meeting, the religious affairs adviser handed over several religious books to the home affairs adviser as a token gift.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani and Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Md Motaher Hossain were present at the meeting.
