BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asserted that voting for Jamaat-e-Islami is “najayez” (impermissible), warning that a political party is attempting to mislead the public using religion.
Addressing a street meeting at Bhagadgazi Bazar in Jamalpur Union of Thakurgaon-1 constituency on Monday, Fakhrul condemned the claim that voting for the ‘scales’ (Daripalla) symbol leads to heaven.
“Can someone go to heaven just by voting for a specific symbol? Nauzubillah,” he remarked.
The BNP leader highlighted that renowned Islamic scholars have rejected such propaganda. He noted that Babunagari has declared voting for Jamaat as “najayez,” while the Charmonai Pir has characterised the organisation as the “biggest liar party in the world”.
“We cannot destroy our faith (Iman) by voting for such a party,” Fakhrul stated, urging men and women alike not to be misled.
He appealed to the public to cast their votes for the “Sheaf of Paddy” on 12 February to uphold the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War, restore democracy, and facilitate national development.
He concluded by calling on the people to support the BNP’s mandate to make Tarique Rahman the prime minister.
