Two children were injured after an old roadside wall collapsed on them in the capital’s Kamrangirchar area on Sunday evening.
The injured were identified as Abir Hossain Nihal, 5, and Arian, 11. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred at around 7pm in an alley near Ali Molla Bazar sawmill in Kamrangirchar.
Nihal’s father, Harun Mia, said several children were playing in the alley near their home when the old wall beside the road collapsed on them.
People nearby immediately rescued the children from under the debris. Nihal and Arian were later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
“I heard that several other children were also injured there. But I cannot say which hospitals they were taken to,” Harun said.
Arian also lives in the same alley and studies at a madrasa.
Citing doctors, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp In-charge Inspector Md Habibur Rahman said the two injured children had been brought to the hospital from Kamrangirchar.
He said Arian was in serious condition and had suffered a fracture to his left leg.
