Omera Petroleum Limited on Saturday sent a rejoinder regarding a TIMES of Bangladesh report titled “NSI flags LPG hoarding by five firms,” published on 2 October 2026. We publish the full rejoinder.

“Omera Petroleum Limited strongly rejects the allegation that it has deliberately withheld LPG cargo or stock to create an artificial shortage or obtain an improper commercial advantage.

Omera remains committed to maintaining consistent LPG supply despite upstream supply disruptions. Its inventory, cargo receipt and dispatch records are available to the competent authorities for verification.

Following enquiries with the Ministry and relevant authorities, Omera’s management has been informed that no NSI report names Omera in the manner alleged.

We therefore request that TIMES of Bangladesh verify the documentary basis and authenticity of the purported report, particularly the allegations concerning Omera.

Before issuing this rejoinder, Omera requested the documentary basis and reference details of the purported NSI report from the journalist concerned.

More than 24 hours have elapsed since that request, and Omera has not received the requested primary evidence supporting the allegation against it.

While the article includes Omera’s denial and acknowledges that the allegations could not be independently verified, publication of an unsubstantiated allegation risks serious harm to the company’s security, reputation, and business goodwill.

We request that TIMES of Bangladesh publish this rejoinder promptly and with appropriate prominence.

If the allegation cannot be substantiated, we request an immediate correction or clarification across the relevant editions and digital platforms.

This rejoinder is issued without prejudice to Omera’s legal rights and remedies in relation to the publication and its consequences, all of which are expressly reserved.

Nothing in this rejoinder constitutes a waiver of those rights or remedies.”

Our reply

The news was written based on an NSI report to the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood. The minister himself confirmed getting it, saying he was working on it. As an independent news outlet, we can’t disclose any documents as demanded by Omera.

We stand by our report.
