Allegations have been raised against leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall Provost Mahbubur Rahman over the alleged deletion of CCTV footage from the scene of an attack on journalists at Rajshahi University (RU).

Journalists alleged that crucial evidence was erased to cover up responsibility for the attack.

According to the journalists, although an important part of the incident should have been captured by CCTV cameras installed in front of the hall, the footage was found to be missing.

They alleged that the footage had been deleted to conceal the identities of those involved in the attack and to hide the true circumstances of the incident.

Denying the allegation, the hall provost said the CCTV connection had been disconnected at the time due to ongoing renovation work, which was why no footage was available. He termed the allegation that the footage had been deleted “completely false.”

Meanwhile, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Abdul Alim said the relevant information had been preserved. “Anyone can make an allegation,” he said, stressing that there was no shortage of documents.

He added that the investigation committee was collecting information from all necessary sources.
