Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has joined a discussion organised to mark World Habitat Day 2026, focusing on universal housing and sustainable urbanisation.
The Ministry of Housing and Public Works organised the programme on Monday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka under the theme “Universal Housing, Sustainable Urbanisation.”

As part of the World Habitat Day observance, a three-day housing fair has been organised at the lobby of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.
The fair has 157 stalls featuring products and services from the housing and construction sectors, along with banking services. Stalls have also been set up by RAJUK, the Department of Architecture, the Public Works Department and other agencies under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
The prime minister is expected to inaugurate the fair after the discussion.
A seminar on planned urbanisation and sustainable housing will also be held at the conference centre at 2:30pm.
World Habitat Day is being observed across all divisions and districts of the country through various programmes. These include the publication of a souvenir, special discussions on television and radio, and the display of banners, posters and festoons at important locations.
Bangladesh and countries around the world have been observing World Habitat Day since 1986.
