Departmental action is being taken against two relevant officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines following a temporary delay in supplying Zamzam water to passengers arriving in Dhaka from Medina after performing the holy Umrah.

The incident occurred after Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 338 from Medina reached Dhaka at 9.10am on Thursday.

Mohiuddin Ahmed, general manager (Public Relations, additional charge) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, informed the media of the development.

He said an initial investigation revealed that the delay in Zamzam water reaching the baggage belt on time was caused by container offloading and operational negligence.

The process of taking necessary departmental action is under way against Baggage In-charge Monirul Islam Prodhan and Flight Supervisor Saddam Hossain on charges of neglect of duty.

It was mentioned that this action is being taken on the instructions of the minister to ensure service quality and accountability.

Biman authorities said as soon as the matter came to notice, arrangements were quickly made to distribute Zamzam water from their own reserve stock to minimise the temporary inconvenience of the Umrah pilgrims.

Later, the other container was identified and the supply of Zamzam water from it was also ensured.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines authorities also mentioned that they remain committed to ensuring uninterrupted and quality service for passengers. Internal monitoring has been further strengthened to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
