A new committee has been formed for the Dhaka Journalist Forum (DSF), a traditional organisation representing locals of Dhaka.
Rashed Ali, executive director of Rajdhani Television, has been elected president, whilst Md Humayun Kabir, special representative of Daily Kalbela, has been elected general secretary.
The 21-member full committee for the 2026-28 tenure was formed for the next two years at a bi-annual general meeting held on Friday at Dhaka Club in the capital.
Prominent poet, children’s writer, and Director – Club & Welfare of Daily Agamir Samay, Saiduzzaman Raushan (Dentosh Raushan), announced the names of the elected office-bearers.
In the new committee, Zahid Rahman of NTV was elected senior vice-president; AKM Kamruzzaman (Hiru) of Daily Sangram as vice-president; Rashim Mulla of Manab Zamin as senior joint general secretary; Masud Rana as joint general secretary; Maksuda Lisa of Pressenza International Press Agency as finance secretary; Md Rashed Nizam of The Business Standard as organisational secretary; Afsana Jahan Nila of Ekushey Television as office secretary; Md Mahmudur Rashid of weekly Safkatha as publicity and publication secretary; Yasir Arafat (Kushal) of NTV as sports and cultural secretary; Al Mohaiminul Khan of News24 Television as information technology secretary; Md Abul Kashem of Ajker Dainik as training and research secretary; Mithun Sarkar of Channel S as welfare secretary; and Syeda Rimi Kobita of The Business File as women’s affairs secretary.
Additionally, Mohammad Nasir Uddin (Liton) of BSS, Shahriar Zaman Deep of Ekhon TV, Delowar Hossain Badal of Banglanews24.com, Md Khorshed Alam Jewel of Agri News24.com, Homayra Mahmuda Faruqui of DBC Television, and Anwar Hossain Pintu of Daily Manab Zamin were elected as executive members.
During the general meeting, recommendations to amend certain parts of the DSF constitution were presented and passed.
Speakers at the bi-annual general meeting called upon Dhaka Journalist Forum to play an effective role in highlighting Dhaka’s heritage and working towards building a liveable city for everyone.
