Prarthana Fardin Dighi’s much-awaited film Biday is unlikely to reach cinemas this Durga Puja, with its release date still uncertain.
Sources close to the film told that one song remains to be filmed, and the team plans to shoot it abroad. The film will be released only after the remaining work is completed.
Producer Shahreen Sultana Sumi has confirmed that Biday will not arrive during this year’s Durga Puja. However, she has not announced a specific release date, saying the film is now expected to come out sometime next year.
The film has faced several delays since its original release plans. Directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, known for Barbad, Biday was initially scheduled for release during last year’s Durga Puja. The release was postponed as production had not been completed.
Hridoy later hoped to bring the film to cinemas during this year’s Eid-ul-Azha, but producer Sumi did not agree to that release window. Reports also suggested that some shooting was still incomplete.
In early September, another possibility emerged that Biday could finally hit cinemas during this year’s Durga Puja. However, the lack of promotional activity raised fresh doubts about the release.
Those doubts have now been confirmed.
With one song still to be shot abroad and post-production work yet to be completed, Biday has once again missed its expected release window. For now, the film is headed for a 2027 release, but exactly when audiences will finally see Dighi on the big screen remains unclear.
