Actor Prasun Azad, who entered the entertainment industry after becoming first runner-up at Lux-Channel I Superstar in 2012, has revealed the reasons behind her decision to quit acting.
Following her breakthrough, Azad worked regularly in television dramas and appeared in several films before suddenly stepping away from the screen. Recently, she addressed the issue in response to a fan’s question on Instagram.
Sharing a screenshot of the query, Azad wrote that acting had become an expensive profession with a low return on investment. She explained that while actors receive one-time payments, the costs of maintaining a public image are ongoing. She cited regular expenses such as beauty parlour visits, clothing, gym fees and daily upkeep as financially draining.
Azad said she wanted to move away from a costly lifestyle and experience a more normal way of living. She also spoke about her desire to prepare herself for life as a middle-class housewife. “I wanted to live like a normal person for a while,” she wrote, adding that the pressure of maintaining a celebrity lifestyle had affected her mental strength.
She also mentioned health and body image concerns as contributing factors. Azad said weight gain made her increasingly self-conscious and uncomfortable with public attention, leading her to feel that it was no longer the right time to act.
Currently, Azad is focused on her family and business. She is the mother of two children.
In addition to television work, she appeared in films including ‘Sorbonasha Yaba’, ‘Ochena Hridoy’ and ‘Poddapuran’.
