A businessman has alleged that men posing as Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members robbed his employee of Tk26 lakh in Savar’s Hemayetpur area.
The incident took place in the Hemayetpur area along the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
On Saturday, victim Rezaul Karim filed a case with Savar Model Police Station against four unidentified people in connection with the incident.
According to police sources, RK Enterprise employee Israfil Haq withdrew Tk26 lakh from the Hemayetpur branch of IFIC Bank on Thursday morning for business purposes. Later, while Isrrafil was crossing the highway from the southern to the northern side after withdrawing the money, four men, got out of a private car wearing RAB uniforms and carrying locally made weapons.
It has been alleged that the men identified themselves as RAB members and assaulted Israfil with locally made weapons, leaving him injured. They then snatched the bag containing Tk26 lakh and fled in the private car.
Rezaul Karim later filed a case with Savar Model Police Station against the four unidentified men.
Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Alam said efforts were under way to recover the snatched money and identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
