Erling Haaland scored the winner as 10 man Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
City played most of the match with 10 players after Phil Foden received a red card in the first half. But Enzo Maresca’s side survived the setback and found a way to win the Manchester derby.
Foden was sent off in the 23rd minute after kicking out at United captain Bruno Fernandes.
The red card gave United a major advantage. However, the hosts failed to make it count.
City stayed in the game despite playing with one player fewer. They eventually punished United through Haaland.
The Norwegian striker found the net to put City ahead. His goal went through a VAR review for a possible offside before the officials allowed it to stand.
United tried to respond with their numerical advantage but could not find an equaliser.
City held firm to protect their narrow lead and left Old Trafford with all three points.
The result continued City’s perfect start under Maresca. It also gave them a memorable derby victory after playing much of the game with 10 men.
For Haaland, his goal proved decisive on another big night for City.
