Amite Hasan is ready to take on whatever role Bangladesh’s team management assigns him if he gets an opportunity in the second Test against West Indies in Sylhet. With Mominul Haque ruled out of the match due to concussion, Amite has been called up as his replacement and could be considered for the no. 3 position.
The 24-year-old made his Test debut against Zimbabwe, batting at 7. However, he usually bats higher up the order in domestic cricket, primarily at 4 in first-class matches.
Asked about the prospect of moving up the order to fill Mominul’s place, Amite said he would stick to the approach he has followed in domestic cricket.
“If I get an opportunity, I will try to follow the same process and play the way I have been playing in first-class cricket,” he told reporters on Tuesday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Amite has earned his second call-up to the national side after making his debut in Zimbabwe. Asked whether the experience of his first Test had made him more confident ahead of a possible opportunity, he said, “I think I should play the way the team management wants me to.”
Bangladesh will face West Indies in the second and final Test in Sylhet from November 5. The hosts are looking to level the series after suffering an eight-wicket defeat in the opening Test.
