American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has appointed Founder Member Dr Hasanul A Hasan as chairman of its Board of Trustees and Founder Member Ishtiaque Abedin as vice chairman, following a decision at the board’s 202nd meeting on Wednesday, 9 September.
The appointments put two AIUB founder members in the university’s top trustee positions after years of involvement in its institutional development, education and research quality and long-term strategic planning, AIUB said in a press release.
Hasan, a businessman and educationist, is chairman of Chemlube Limited, the sole distributor of MAK Lubricants in Bangladesh. He is also managing director of American Dairy Limited and chairman of Subaru Bangladesh Limited.
Abedin, also a businessman and educationist, is secretary general of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) and has been involved in the development and advancement of higher education in the country.
Alongside his role on AIUB’s Board of Trustees, Abedin serves as chairman of American Dairy Limited and managing director of Chemlube Limited, Shanzaib Limited and Shanzaib Food & Beverage Limited.
Members of the AIUB Board of Trustees, faculty members, officials, employees and the wider university community congratulated Hasan and Abedin on their appointments and wished them success in their leadership roles.
