Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur, held a seminar on career opportunities in industrial automation on Thursday and received automation training kits from Mitsubishi Electric to give electrical and electronic engineering students more hands-on experience alongside theoretical learning.

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) organised the “Career Opportunities in Industrial Automation and PLC Technology” seminar at the seminar room of the university’s Shaheed Abu Sayeed Administrative Building on 1 October, with support from the Bangladesh branch of Setsuyo Astec Corporation, a Mitsubishi Electric Group company, and Progressive Engineering Corporation, DUET said in a press release.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Ruma, who attended as chief guest, said DUET aims to equip students with practical skills in line with industry demand for skilled human resources.

She said the advanced training kits provided by Mitsubishi Electric would allow students to gain practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge at a time when artificial intelligence and robotics are driving rapid transformation across industries.

The facilities would help students prepare for their careers and become involved in research in the automation sector, while the seminar itself would also play an important role in their career development, she said.

Ruma thanked the organisations that supported the seminar and expressed hope that closer ties with them would further strengthen DUET’s existing industry-academia collaboration.
