Seven flights were cancelled at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Tuesday morning amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following the Iran war.
With the latest disruptions, the total number of cancelled international flights at the airport has reached 35 since 28 February.
The airport’s spokesperson Engineer Ibrahim Khalil said the cancellations were prompted by the temporary closure of several airfields in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar due to the ongoing conflict.
As of Monday morning, multiple flights operating to and from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Doha were suspended.
According to airport sources, one inbound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from the Middle East was cancelled. One departure and one arrival flight of US-Bangla Airlines on Middle East routes were cancelled. Two departure and two arrival flights of Air Arabia were also called off.
However, some flights continued operating on schedule. A SalamAir flight (OV-401) from Muscat landed at 8:05am and departed again as OV-402 for Muscat at 9:15am.
Similarly, a Biman flight (BG-138) arriving from Madinah touched down at 8:45am before departing for Dhaka at 9:30am.
Airport officials said flight operations remain subject to change depending on developments in the Middle East.
