Pakistan described the death sentence handed to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina as an internal issue for Dhaka, asserting that Bangladeshi people are capable of resolving their own challenges.

The sentence, issued by a Bangladeshi court on Monday (17 November), concluded a lengthy trial that found Hasina responsible for ordering a deadly crackdown on a student-led mass protest last year. The ruling came just months ahead of parliamentary election anticipated in early February 2026.

During his weekly press briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi addressed queries regarding the case, reports Dawn.

He said, “This is an internal matter of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh are fully capable of addressing their issues in accordance with their own democratic and constitutional processes.”
