Home Affairs Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Wednesday that preparations for the upcoming election are better than in previous polls, with comprehensive security measures already in place at all voting centres.
Speaking to reporters after a law-and-order meeting at the PTI conference hall in Subid Bazar, Sylhet, he said every polling station will be equipped with CCTV cameras.
Body-worn cameras will also be used, and drones will be deployed in special cases. In addition, a dog squad will be deployed and 10 Ansar members will be assigned to each voting centre.
He said the meeting aimed to identify any shortcomings in election preparations and coordinate necessary actions.
“But after attending the meeting, I found their preparedness to be very good, exceeding our expectations,” he said.
The adviser also defended the neutrality of election management officials, saying there is no political bias in their work. “There is no second party like the Awami League here. Everyone is a good and honest officer, and they are fully prepared for the election,” he said.
The law-and-order meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon, with Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attending as the chief guest. Police Inspector General (IGP) Baharul Alam was present as a special guest.
The meeting was presided over by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani and moderated by Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Mohammad Reza Un Nabi.
Senior officials from the Sylhet division and representatives of various law enforcement units participated.
