Prosecution seeks charges in Jatrabari Taim killing case

The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Wednesday called for charges to be framed against all 11 accused in a crimes against humanity case regarding the killing of college student Imam Hasan Taim in the Jatrabari area of the capital during the July Mass Uprising.

Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam made the plea during the hearing on the case. The tribunal adjourned the hearing until 2 February, when the defence is scheduled to present their arguments.

On 24 December, 2025, the tribunal took cognizance of the formal charge filed against the 11 accused, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman.

Taim, a second-year student of Adamjee Nagar Government College in Narayanganj, was shot at close range on July 20 near the Kajla footbridge under Jatrabari Police Station.

According to the prosecution, Taim was later taken to Jatrabari Police Station by police personnel, where he died after being subjected to torture.
