Ibn Sina Hospital observed World Heart Day 2026 on Tuesday through a rally and discussion session in Dhaka, focusing on raising awareness about heart disease prevention, early detection and healthy lifestyles.

The programme was organised on 29 September at the hospital premises in Dhanmondi under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”, highlighting the importance of every heartbeat in preserving life.

The rally started at 9:00am from the Ibn Sina Hospital premises and passed through nearby main roads before a discussion session on heart health was held at the hospital.

The event began with Quran recitation, followed by a welcome address from Ibn Sina Hospital Director (Administration) Md Anisuzzaman.

Ibn Sina Trust board member, former cardiologist at Combined Military Hospital (Dhaka) and interventional cardiologist at Ibn Sina Cardiac Centre Professor Colonel (retd) Dr Jehad Khan said every heartbeat was valuable and timely detection of heart disease and modern treatment could save many lives.

Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Ibn Sina Hospital Dr Md Zakir Hossain and Ibn Sina Trust AGM and Head of Business Development Md Niaz Makhdum Shibli also spoke at the event, stressing the need for greater awareness, regular health check-ups and disciplined lifestyles, including regular walking and exercise.

The session was chaired by Ibn Sina Hospital Director of Medical Services Brigadier General (retd) Dr Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury and moderated by hospital Manager (Administration) Md Mostafizur Rahman.

Patients, senior hospital officials, doctors, nurses and employees attended the programme.
