Bangladesh has formally presented its growing energy requirements, the immense potential of its offshore resources in the Bay of Bengal, and an attractive investment framework before international investors at the Ministerial Session on the Strategic Stage of the “World Energies Summit” in London.
Addressing the summit, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit said that the country’s rapidly growing economic situation is continuously driving up energy demand. He highlighted that the government is actively working to boost the exploration and production of domestic gas and energy resources to meet this demand.
The state minister extended a call to international oil and gas companies to participate in the “Bangladesh Offshore Bidding Round 2026.”
Under this bidding round, a total of 26 blocks in the Bay of Bengal—comprising 11 shallow-water and 15 deep-water blocks—have been opened for global investors.

Presenting the overall economic landscape, Invest Bangladesh Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun elaborated on the country’s current macroeconomic stability, positive investment inflows, and various supportive government policies adopted to facilitate international investors.
His presentation detailed the undiscovered offshore prospects in the Bay of Bengal, the availability of modern seismic data, and the attractive and competitive commercial terms offered under the “Offshore Model Production Sharing Contract (PSC) 2026.”
Following the event, the Bangladesh delegation advised international energy companies to review the relevant geological and seismic data.
They also requested interested firms to contact the Government of Bangladesh and Petrobangla directly to participate in the ongoing bidding round.
