Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that there is no security risk regarding the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum.
He said this while briefing journalists after a meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The home affairs adviser said, “There is no major security threat regarding the elections so far. The law-and-order situation in the country remains normal, and the government has taken all kinds of preparations to complete the voting in a festive atmosphere.”
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury further informed that a special complaint cell has been formed at the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure the smooth completion of the elections and referendum. If any kind of irregularity or disorder is observed in the elections, he said, people can directly call the hotline at 01550068226 or 01550064227.
The home adviser informed that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to perform their duties impartially, without favouritism or bias.
He issued a strict warning, saying, “No kind of financial benefit can be taken during these duties. If anyone is involved in financial transactions, strict action will be taken against them.”
Additionally, instructions have been given to the law enforcement agencies to remain active at the field level to avoid any kind of untoward incidents before and after the election.
The adviser informed that necessary arrangements will be in place at each centre for journalists to ensure the free flow of election-related information.
Top officials of the law enforcement agencies were present at the meeting, which reviewed the current security situation across the country ahead of the elections.
