A total of 4,22,960 postal ballots from expatriates registered via the “Postal Vote BD” mobile application have reached Bangladesh for the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.
Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the Out of Country Voting System Development & Implementation (OCV-SDI) project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed the matter. Authorities have dispatched 7,66,862 ballots to expatriates through the app as of 10:15am on Saturday.
Of these, 5,27,033 voters have received their ballots, while 4,94,185 have already cast their votes. Postal offices abroad have so far collected 4,68,091 submitted ballots. Returning officers (ROs) within Bangladesh have received 2,25,168 of these.
Election Commission (EC) has also started sending postal ballots to eligible voters inside the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system. Officials have sent ballots to 6,94,146 registered domestic voters.
Latest EC data shows that 3,81,007 of these voters had received their ballots. Among them, 3,21,695 have cast their votes, with 2,76,272 ballots submitted to post offices or designated mailboxes. ROs have received 83,942 domestic postal ballots.
Salim Ahmad Khan also said a combined total of 15,33,684 voters, both at home and abroad, have registered on the application to vote.
