BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi inaugurated the sale of nomination forms for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament.
The programme began on Friday at 11am at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, where the nomination forms were officially open for sale and submission.
Rizvi said “Interested candidates can collect and submit nomination forms by 12 April. Each form has been set at Tk2,000, while candidates must submit a Tk50,000 security deposit along with the application.”
He said, “BNP remains committed to continuing the democratic process in the country.”
He added “The party will select candidates for the reserved women’s seats from among those who faced repression and persecution during the rule of the Awami League.”
Rizvi further said “BNP women leaders had faced imprisonment and various forms of harassment while the party was in opposition.”
He added that the nomination board will take all relevant factors into account before selecting qualified candidates.
He also urged party members to abide by party decisions.
Rizvi said ‘Several criteria will be considered in the selection process. These include roles in the July movement, educational qualifications, political experience and the ability to speak effectively in the National Parliament.”
