A Dhaka court has again granted a three‑day remand for dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Md Afzal Naser Bhuiyan in a murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamsed Alam passed the order on Monday after hearing both sides.

Police had sought five days remand for the former DGFI officer.

State Counsel Muhammad Shamsuzzoha Suman placed the remand petition, while defence lawyer Morshed Hossain Shahin opposed it and filed a bail plea.

Then the court rejected bail petition and granted three days of remand for the accused.

According to the case documents, on 19 July 2024, violence erupted during the anti-discrimination student movement in Mirpur‑10 Fruit Market area.

Victim Delwar Hossain sustained bullet injuries and was admitted to NICVD, later shifted to a private hospital in Shyamoli, and died on 21 July while undergoing treatment.

His wife Mosha Liza filed the murder case on 6 July 2025. Police later arrested Afzal Naser and took him on remand in phases.

Investigators said the accused was earlier questioned under a three‑day remand, which produced partial information.

Police argued further remand is necessary to verify information, uncover planning behind the killing, identify the instruction chain, and determine roles of those directly involved.
