On-demand service platform Sheba.xyz has launched a “Fuel Refuelling Driver Service” that allows vehicle owners to hire a driver to queue at filling stations on their behalf. The service enables customers to book a driver via a dedicated hotline or the Sheba app.

The assigned driver collects the vehicle, waits in the fuel queue, refuels it, and returns it to the owner, sparing them from hours of waiting.

The service is priced at Tk175 per hour during the day and Tk225 per hour at night. The launch comes as motorists across the country face several hours of waiting at pumps due to fuel supply disruptions linked to escalating tensions from the US-Israel war on Iran.

The announcement has drawn a mixed reception on social media. While many praised the move as “wonderful” entrepreneurship, others believe that time is more valuable than money.

Conversely, some questioned the financial feasibility of the service. A few users noted that if obtaining Tk1,000 worth of fuel requires a three-to-four-hour wait, the total cost would rise to between Tk1,525 and Tk 1,900 depending on the time of day.
