A lawyer was found dead in his rented flat in the Lalbagh area of the capital on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, son of Abdul Majid, from Goalgaon village in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj. He was an advocate practising at the Judge Court.

Police recovered his body from a room on the second floor of a house at 10/2 Fala Masjid Lane in Shahid Nagar No 3 around 11am.
Police said Anwar lived alone in the rented room.

They suspect he died two to three days ago. However, the exact cause of death will be known after an autopsy, said police.

House owner Monir Hossain said Anwar had rented the room earlier this month for Tk4,000 a month.

A forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the scene and collected various pieces of evidence.

Police also recovered a driving licence from the room bearing an address at 312 Jagannath Saha Road.

Officers are trying to contact the deceased’s relatives.

Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman, along with the division’s additional deputy commissioner and officer-in-charge of Lalbagh Police Station, visited the scene.

The body was sent to the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College for autopsy.
