Three more people have died of Dengue in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 47. During the same period, 512 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Since 1 January, the total number of hospitalised Dengue patients has reached 14,156. These figures were provided on Tuesday in a daily report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the report, 1,100 Dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals. In the last 24 hours, 532 patients were discharged, and since the beginning of the year, a total of 13,009 people have recovered and returned home.
A regional breakdown of the latest hospitalisations shows that the highest number of patients, 201, were admitted in Dhaka Division (excluding City Corporations). Additionally, Dhaka North City Corporation recorded 13 admissions, while Dhaka South City Corporation saw 75.
Other admissions included 85 in Khulna Division, 75 in Barishal Division, 75 in Chattogram Division, 34 in Rajshahi Division, 28 in Rangpur Division, 13 in Mymensingh Division, and one patient in Sylhet Division.
Of the three deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, two occurred in Chattogram Division and one in Rajshahi Division.
The DGHS data reveals that the highest number of Dengue cases this year has been detected in the Dhaka North and South City Corporation areas, with a combined total of 3,173 patients.
Other significantly affected areas include Barishal Division with 3,163 cases, Chattogram Division with 2,440, Khulna Division with 1,834, and various districts of Dhaka Division (excluding City Corporations) with 1,807 cases.
The report highlights that the outbreak has been most severe in July, with 8,052 patients hospitalised so far this month.
In contrast, there were 1,081 cases in January, 409 in February, 353 in March, 640 in April, 714 in May, and 2,907 in June.
