The District Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested two alleged drug traders and seized 400 pieces of Yaba tablets during a raid in Char Jabbar police station area of Noakhali.
The operation was conducted on Monday night, in the area adjacent to Haris Chowdhury Bazar Zero Point.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Elias Hossain Riaz, 27 and Md Rakib, 26. Both suspects are residents of Ward No-8 under Charbata Union in Char Majid area.
According to police sources, the drive was initiated based on a secret tip-off on the paved road in front of Shipon Swarno Shilpalay Jewellers at Haris Chowdhury Bazar Zero Point. The 400 Yaba tablets were recovered following a search of the suspects’ bodies.
Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Tayeb Md Arif Hossain confirmed the incident. He said the process of filing a case against the arrested drug traders at Char Jabbar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act is currently underway. He further said such anti-drug operations by the district police will continue.
