The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again decided to reduce gold prices by a large margin. This time, the price of 22‑carat gold ornaments has been cut by Tk3,324 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk221,966 per bhori.
In a notice issued Tuesday morning, BAJUS said the price of pure gold had fallen in the local market. Considering the situation, new rates have been fixed, effective from 10am.
According to the new gold prices, 22‑carat ornaments are priced at Tk221,616 per bhori (11.664 grams), 21‑carat at Tk211,993, 18‑carat at Tk182,075, and traditional method ornaments at Tk150,990.
The new prices will remain in effect at all jewellery outlets until further notice.
Wages will apply depending on design. As VAT is included in the sales price, customers cannot be charged separately. The previous rules for exchange and purchase of ornaments, excluding VAT, wages and stones, remain unchanged. A decision on VAT for silver ornaments will be announced soon.
Earlier, on 29 June, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices, cutting Tk3,266 per bhori. At that time, the VAT‑inclusive price of 22‑carat gold ornaments was set at Tk225,290 per bhori, 21‑carat at Tk215,142, 18‑carat at Tk184,758, and traditional method ornaments at Tk150,932. Those rates took effect from 10am that day.
So far this year, gold prices in the local market have been adjusted 84 times — raised 41 times, reduced 42 times, and VAT adjusted once. In 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times — raised 64 times and reduced 29 times.
