The “Orientation and Reception of Meritorious Students 2026” of Sonargaon University has been held at the Officers Club to welcome its new students and honour its alumni.
This event served to introduce the new students of Sonargaon University to the new chapter of their university life. In addition, 27 alumni from among the achievers of the Sonargaon University Alumni Association were honoured at the ceremony.
The programme was presided over by the Chairman and Founder of the Board of Trustees of Sonargaon University, Engineer Abdul Aziz. University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest.
Other notable attendees included Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan; Professor of the Department of Environmental Science of Jahangirnagar University, Md. Jamal Uddin; Executive Member of the Board of Trustees of Sonargaon University, Advocate Umme Salma; and Advisor to the Board of Trustees Azizul Bari (Shipu) and Mir Abdul Alim.
Also present at the event were the Vice-Chancellor of Sonargaon University, Professor Shamim Ara Hasan; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Professor Bulbul Ahmed; Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Ekramul Islam; Deans of all departments; Heads of departments; teachers; concerned officials; and new students.
In the second part of the event, a pleasant cultural programme was organised for the new students. This segment featured various performances, including dance and music, aimed at making the new students’ journey into university life joyful and memorable.
