Chennai Super Kings confirmed Jamie Overton has returned to the England with a right thigh injury on Wednesday, May 13, as the IPL 2026 side continue their campaign ahead of their fixture against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow.
CSK announced Overton’s departure on social media and said he will undergo further assessment and management in the UK. The franchise did not rule him out of the rest of the season. Overton suffered the injury after featuring in CSK’s recent run of matches.
Overton delivered a key performance in CSK’s latest game against Lucknow Super Giants at home. He took three wickets after Lucknow reached 91 for one in the Powerplay. CSK restricted the total to 203 and then chased it in the final over.
Overton has played 10 matches this season. He has taken 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and an economy rate of 8.89. He has also scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 158.13.
CSK continue to deal with a long injury list. Nathan Ellis, Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre and Ramakrishna Ghosh all sit out. The club also confirmed MS Dhoni has missed matches due to a calf issue and has not travelled with the squad to Lucknow.
The franchise signed Macneil Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh. Reports also suggest CSK may consider overseas changes, with Spencer Johnson discussed as an option.
CSK sit fifth in the table with 12 points from 11 matches. They stay in control of their playoff position but face selection pressure ahead of the final league phase.
