Ramakrishna Ghosh will miss the rest of IPL 2026 after suffering a fractured right foot during Chennai Super Kings’ match against Mumbai Indians at Chepauk on Saturday. The franchise confirmed the injury on Sunday and ruled him out of the tournament.
Ghosh made his IPL debut in the same match. He returned figures of 1 for 24 from three overs as Chennai secured an eight-wicket win. He also took a sharp diving catch earlier in the game. The injury appeared during his bowling spell, with signs of discomfort after his follow-through.
Chennai said, “Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026.”
The 28-year-old from Maharashtra had recently impressed in training sessions. Head coach Stephen Fleming said, “His improvement in recent weeks has been noticeable. He has been training really well at our academy sessions. It’s disappointing that he got injured. He can bat and bat well, which is an area of big improvement. He can genuinely be called an all-rounder.”
Ghosh’s absence adds to a growing injury list at Chennai. Khaleel Ahmed and Ayush Mhatre have already missed matches, while Nathan Ellis has remained unavailable. Spencer Johnson only recently returned after his own fitness issue.
MS Dhoni has also missed matches with a calf strain. Chennai now face a stretched bowling group as they push for a place in the playoffs. The franchise has not yet named a replacement for Ghosh.
