Five relatives of United Kingdom (UK)-based expatriates received prizes for receiving the highest amounts of remittances sent directly to their bKash accounts through ‘Taptap Send’ from the UK, the mobile financial service provider said in a press release.
The winners received a motorcycle coupon worth Tk1.80 lakh and electronic device coupons worth Tk50,000, Tk30,000, Tk25,000 and Tk15,000 respectively at a ceremony held recently at the bKash head office in Dhaka.
The winners were selected based on the amount of remittances received from UK-based relatives between 1 August and 31 August 2026. The campaign aimed to encourage expatriates to send remittances through safe, convenient and legal channels, bKash said.
bKash said its remittance service has gained popularity among expatriates and their families due to its secure and convenient nature. Expatriates can send remittances directly to bKash accounts through 142 international money transfer operators (MTOs) from more than 170 countries, with the funds settled through 28 leading commercial banks in Bangladesh.
Recipients can withdraw remittances from nearly 2,500 automated teller machine (ATM) booths of leading commercial banks across the country using the bKash app or by dialling *247#, at a charge of Tk7 per thousand.
