MEP Group, a local manufacturer of electrical and electronic products, plans to invest about Tk200 crore to establish a modern manufacturing plant at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram, as the company moves to expand production capacity and diversify its product range.
The proposed facility will be built on 10 acres of land and will produce electrical products including switch-sockets, circuit breakers, cables, LED lights and fans, according to a company press release.
MEP Group said the technology-based plant is expected to support product development, create employment and strengthen the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s electrical products industry.
The investment plan was announced at the “MEP Accessories Super Offer 2026 Grand Achiever Celebration” held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, where the company awarded 78 motorcycles and two refrigerators to 80 winners under its market promotion campaign.
The event brought together retailers, distributors and business partners, with discussions on market expansion and MEP’s future growth plans.
Md Fazlul Hoque, administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), said MEP’s planned factory would contribute to industrialisation, employment generation and domestic manufacturing capacity.
“MEP is one of Bangladesh’s longstanding manufacturers of electrical products. Its proposed investment and modern factory in the National Special Economic Zone will support the production of high-quality and diversified products,” he said.
Jahangir Alam Chaklader, managing director of MEP Group, said the new factory would support the company’s long-term strategy to increase production capacity, improve product quality, introduce modern technology and expand its market presence.
“We want to work closely with retailers, distributors and customers to strengthen MEP’s contribution to Bangladesh’s electrical products market,” he said.
Shokil Alam Chaklader, director of MEP Group, said the company’s focus would remain on expanding its market network through partnerships with retailers and distributors as products from the new factory enter the market.
MEP Group said the next phase of its special offer campaign would run from October to December 2026.
Established in 1974, MEP Group manufactures electrical and electronic products including switch-sockets, cables, circuit breakers, LED lights and fans.
