A 39-member business delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), led by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, will visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 22 to 25 September to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
The visit will focus on expanding exports of Bangladeshi products with high potential in the Malaysian market and attracting Malaysian investment to Bangladesh. The High Commission of Bangladesh in Malaysia is extending its support and cooperation to the delegation throughout the visit, said a press release on Sunday.
The delegation will hold trade discussions and participate in Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions with the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia on 23, 24 and 25 September respectively. Delegates will also participate in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Kuala Lumpur on 24 September. DCCI leadership will pay courtesy calls on Malaysia Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing and Malaysia Deputy Minister of Finance Liew Chin Tong.
Bangladeshi nationals account for 37 per cent of total foreign workers employed in Malaysia, remitting $3.40 billion to Bangladesh during the 2025–26 fiscal year. In FY2024–25, total bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Malaysia amounted to approximately $2.57 billion, with Bangladesh’s imports at $2.293 billion and exports at $282 million.
Malaysian entrepreneurs have invested $755.48 million in Bangladesh, with significant investments in telecommunications, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, construction and textiles.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 25 September 2026.
